FEARLESS: Part 2 - Fearless in the Face of Giants

Welcome to our FEARLESS study. Today we are taking a look at the popular Bible story of David & Goliath found in 1 Samuel 17. Let's jump in!

You ever face something so overwhelming that it makes you want to hide under a blanket and cancel all your plans? That was Goliath. Literally. A massive, armored, trash-talking warrior who had everyone shaking in their sandals.

Enter David—teenager, shepherd, lunch delivery guy. No sword. No armor. Just faith and a sling. And while every other warrior backed down, David stepped up. Not because he was the biggest or the strongest—but because he knew who his God was.

David wasn’t fearless because he trusted himself. He was fearless because he

- David saw beyond the giant: Everyone else saw a threat; David saw an opportunity for God to show off.

- David remembered God’s faithfulness: He’d fought lions and bears before—this Philistine was just another chance to see God move.

- David fought with confidence: not in his aim, but in God’s power.

This wasn’t just a story about a stone and a slingshot—it was a moment where fearless faith silenced fear itself.

Giants come in all shapes—anxiety, debt, diagnosis, insecurity, rejection, that one thing you keep avoiding. But here’s the truth:

1. Giants scream loud, but

2. Giants make us feel small, but

3. Giants want you to forget who’s fighting for you.

• What “giant” are you facing right now that feels too big to overcome?

• How have you seen God come through for you in past battles?

• What would it look like for you to face this situation with fearless faith instead of fear?

This week, name your giant—and then speak truth over it. Write down 1 Samuel 17:47 somewhere you’ll see it often. Pray with boldness, and take one step toward facing it, trusting God to handle the outcome.

Bonus Thought: David didn’t become a giant-killer the day he faced Goliath. He became one the day he chose to trust God in the little things. Your private faith builds public courage.
