When we start seeking God’s 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝗲 rather than just His 𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗱, something incredible begins to happen—we change. Our relationship with God deepens, and that shift transforms the way we see ourselves, our circumstances, and the world around us.
It’s easy to approach God with a list of needs and hopes, but when we go beyond that and pursue His presence, we start experiencing Him in new and powerful ways. Let’s look at how seeking God's face leads to life transformation.
𝟭. 𝗪𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗛𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗿𝗲𝘀.
One of the most significant ways seeking God’s face changes us is that it aligns our hearts with His. When we spend time with someone, we start to care about the things they care about. It’s the same in our relationship with God.
As we seek His face—through prayer, worship, and reading His Word—we start to understand more of His will and desires for our lives. Instead of constantly asking for our own desires, we begin to pray, “Lord, what do You want for me? What is Your plan?”
𝗣𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗺 𝟯𝟳:𝟰 says, "𝘋𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦𝘭𝘧 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘰𝘳𝘥, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘏𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵." Often, people misread this verse, thinking it means God will give us whatever we want. But the truth is, when we 𝗱𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁 in the Lord—when we seek His face and enjoy being in His presence—our desires change. We start wanting what God wants for us, and He fulfills those desires because they’re aligned with His perfect will.
𝟮. 𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗕𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗔𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗚𝗼𝗱’𝘀 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹
When we focus on seeking God’s hand, our prayers can sometimes become a wish list of things we want Him to do for us. And again, there’s nothing wrong with bringing our needs to God. He encourages us to ask for help and provision.
But when we seek His face, our prayers shift from being focused on 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 to being focused on 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗛𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀. We start to care less about getting our way and more about seeing God’s plan unfold. It’s a beautiful change that brings peace, knowing that His will is better than anything we could imagine.
𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘄 𝟲:𝟭𝟬 is part of the Lord’s Prayer, and it says, "𝘠𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘥𝘰𝘮 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦, 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘣𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘯𝘦, 𝘰𝘯 𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘩 𝘢𝘴 𝘪𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘦𝘯." When we seek God's face, we start praying this sincerely. We want His will to be done, not ours, because we trust that His ways are higher than our ways.
𝟯. 𝗪𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲
Let’s face it: life is full of challenges, and sometimes it feels like the only way to deal with them is to cry out for help. And while God is always ready to listen to our cries, seeking His face gives us something even greater—His 𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗰𝗲.
When we spend time in God’s presence, simply enjoying Him for who He is, we find that His peace covers us in a way that nothing else can. We no longer have to be anxious or stressed about every little thing because we know He’s in control.
One of my favorite verses is 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝟰:𝟲-𝟳, which says, "𝘋𝘰 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘣𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘹𝘪𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘣𝘺 𝘱𝘳𝘢𝘺𝘦𝘳 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘶𝘱𝘱𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘬𝘴𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘭𝘦𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘳𝘦𝘲𝘶𝘦𝘴𝘵𝘴 𝘣𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘥𝘦 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘎𝘰𝘥. 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘎𝘰𝘥, 𝘸𝘩𝘪𝘤𝘩 𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘴 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨, 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘨𝘶𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘩𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘥𝘴 𝘪𝘯 𝘊𝘩𝘳𝘪𝘴𝘵 𝘑𝘦𝘴𝘶𝘴."
Notice how it says that when we bring everything to God, His peace will 𝗴𝘂𝗮𝗿𝗱 our hearts and minds. That’s the kind of peace we experience when we seek His face. We may not always get the answers we want or the solutions we’re hoping for, but we get something better—peace that goes beyond our understanding.
𝟰. 𝗪𝗲 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆
Spiritual growth doesn’t happen overnight, and it doesn’t come from only going to God when we’re in a tough spot. Just like any relationship, our walk with God takes time and consistency to develop.
When we seek God’s face daily—when we prioritize knowing Him above all else—we grow spiritually. We become more grounded in our faith, more sensitive to His voice, and more aware of His presence in every aspect of our lives.
Paul talked about this kind of growth in 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗮𝗻𝘀 𝟯:𝟭𝟬, saying, “𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘐 𝘮𝘢𝘺 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸 𝘏𝘪𝘮 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘏𝘪𝘴 𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘮𝘢𝘺 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘏𝘪𝘴 𝘴𝘶𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘯𝘨𝘴, 𝘣𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘏𝘪𝘮 𝘪𝘯 𝘏𝘪𝘴 𝘥𝘦𝘢𝘵𝘩.” Paul didn’t just want to experience God’s blessings; he wanted to know God intimately and become like Christ. That kind of maturity comes from continually seeking God’s face.
𝟱. 𝗪𝗲 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗝𝗼𝘆 𝗕𝗲𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗺𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝘀
One of the most beautiful results of seeking God’s face is the 𝗷𝗼𝘆 that comes with it. When we focus on our relationship with God, we begin to experience a joy that isn’t tied to our circumstances. Whether things are going well or we’re facing challenges, our joy remains steady because it’s rooted in God, not in what’s happening around us.
𝗣𝘀𝗮𝗹𝗺 𝟭𝟲:𝟭𝟭 says, "𝘠𝘰𝘶 𝘮𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘵𝘩 𝘰𝘧 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦; 𝘪𝘯 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘳𝘦 𝘪𝘴 𝘧𝘶𝘭𝘭𝘯𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘰𝘧 𝘫𝘰𝘺; 𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘱𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘶𝘳𝘦𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦." When we seek God’s face, we tap into that fullness of joy that can’t be found anywhere else. It’s a joy that doesn’t fade when life gets hard—it remains because our foundation is in Christ.
𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗶𝘀 𝗙𝗮𝗰𝗲
When we seek God’s face, we’re not just doing something religious or ticking a box. We’re inviting Him to change us from the inside out. Our desires align with His, our prayers shift, and we experience a peace, joy, and spiritual maturity that only comes from knowing Him more deeply.
Are you ready to let God transform you? It all starts with seeking His face and spending time in His presence, not just for what He can do, but because of who He is.
